Tips and unlockables

Time Attack Tips

  • Always use Yumi and only switch to Ami if you need to triple jump or swing.
  • Jump to reach ropes and ladders, it saves time on climbing.
  • Run where possible, even if just for a couple of steps.
  • Don't let fans grab you or papparazzi shoot your picture, it takes you time to recover.
  • Don't worry about reaching Tekirai.

Tour Bus Tips

  • Keep your finger on the B button to shoot constantly. Then you only have to worry about moving out of the way of certain things. You only have 2 lives for the entire game, so make them count.
  • In an enemy drops a bomb, save it, you will need them for the boss battle.
  • The perfect time to use a bomb on the boss is when you have no way to dodge the bullets.
  • Once you've completed the Tour Bus Game once (see unlockables list), you can select 2 other types of machines to fly through the levels. The Submarine is slower than the Tour Bus, the bullets do more damage, but the bombs are weaker. The Space Jet is faster than the Tour Bus, the bullets do less damage, but the bombs are more powerful.

Tour Bus Boss Tips

World 1

Boss Fight: Helicopter
Body hit: 10 Points
Rotor hit: 20 Points

The helicopter moves up and down and randomly stops to charge. When it stops, it rears back, turns red and charges forward. Avoid the charge by moving out of the way up or down when it gets close.

It also fires a triple shot now and again, but the bullets are slow and easy to dodge.

World 2

Boss Fight: Big Guy
Body hit: 10 Points
Hat hit: 20 Points, but does no damage

Fires spit-wad randomly in your direction, no matter where you are. Ignore the hat, keep shooting at the body. When he is down to about 1/3 of his health, his attacks become more powerful, so save your bombs fort his part. He'll fire twice every time he raises his straw to attack you, or shoot a wall of spit-wads.

World 3

Boss Fight: Giant Pumpkin
Body hit: 10 Points
Eyes hit: 20 Points

The Pumpkin moves up and down spitting bullets. Occasionally, it will move left and right at the top or bottom of the screen, continuing to throw bullets in your direction. Shoot constantly while it moves up and down, and dodge when it charges. At about 1/4 of his health, it will also start rolling at you. When you see the Pumpkin roll up, dodge or use a bomb if you see you can't get out of the way.

World 4

Boss Fight: Sea Lion
Eyes hit: 10 Points

The Sea Lion is similar to Big Guy, since he doesn't move, but you can only hit the Sea Lion in the eyes. He will throw three bullets at you at once, so you will have to do a lot of dodging. Sometimes he waves his arms to call two Robo-Fish. You need 6 shots to kill the fish. At around 1/4 of his health, his bullets change into double ans single shots, making it easier to dodge. However, he likes to bring out some fish to use as weapons, so use your bombs when the screen is full of fish and bullets.

World 5

Boss Fight: Sea Dragon
Body hit: 10 Points
Tail hit: 20 Points, but does no damage

Ignore the tail and hit the head. This boss has a few different attacks. One is a 3-bullet attack, which is kinda slow and easy to dodge. The other is a fireball attack, which are bigger than bullets.

When he stops firing and rears his head back, place yourself under his head and wait until the wave of fire ends. Repeat this until he is at about 1/4 of his health. Here, his attacks will get faster and he'll also fire a spread of bullets that pretty much take over the whole screen, but there are some gaps you can use to get out of the way. Eventuallly, he will also spit a wall of fireballs that you can't dodge, making it the perfect time to use your bombs.

World 6

Boss Fight: UFO
Body hit: 10 Points
Engine hit: 20 Points, but does no damage

The UFO's attacks are similar to the Sea Lion's in World 4, but it constantly moves up and down. It fires normal bullets, which are relatively easy to dodge, and will also call Aliens to help. Get rid of the aliens as fast as you can.

When the UFO's lights turn green, it means it's about to fire a beam. The beams get tricky is if there are Aliens around, since you can't move past the beam. At 1/2 health, the UFO's lights turn red. At this point, it stops firing bullets and will shoot beam attacks instead. At 1/4 health, it will again call Aliens and shoot beams, but the projectiles are now glowing rings that are much larger and harder to dodge. This last round of attacks is when you should use your bombs.

World 7

Boss Fight: Giant Monster
Body hit: 10 Points, 1 HP damage per hit

This Boss has at least double of the other bosses' health. His main attack is a slow ball of energy from his glove, that can be easily dodged. He also fires regular bullets from it that can be a problem when combined with the energy balls. He also spits bullets at you in an angle, first three, then two, making them somewhat hard to dodge. Fire constantly at his body (anywhere will do, so the hit area is fairly large) and dodge as much as you can.

When his health reaches about 40%, his attacks change. He raises his glove and constantly fires small bullets, but there are no energy balls to deal with so this is an easier part of the battle. He also has a spread of bullets attack, but not as many as the Sea Dragon did, so you can fit into the gaps easily. At around 30% of his health, he stops the bullet spread and starts firing a beam from his mouth instead, like the UFO did. As if the beam wasn't enough, he'll also fire fast fireballs.

When his health reaches about 20%, he will stop the beam and fireballs and switch to energy balls and bullets again, but faster than before. Try to stay near the center of the screen so you don't get trapped. When his health gets to 10%, he will use all of his attacks randomly, so any bombs you have should be used now.

Harmony Tips

The goal is to get Harmony to the left side of the level, then use Jam Session attacks and Yumi's Guitar Swing. Every time you use a Guitar Swing, Harmony runs back to the right side. Use Ami's normal attacks to push her to the left, then climb to the top platform and switch to Yumi. Hit her with a Guitar Swing, then unleash a Jam Session attack before Harmony can run.

Harmony uses several different attacks, but there are ways to dodge them.

  • Arm Drill: while Ami/Yumi are on the ground, Harmony can turns her Robot's arm into a drill and rushes forward. Jump over the drill and keep pushing her to the left.
  • Grab: the Robot's hand will glow blue and reach for Ami/Yumi if they are on the ground. Just jump over it and keep pushing.
  • Flash: the screen flashes white, and freezes Ami/Yumi, making them lose energy. If it hits, tap A as fast as you can.
  • Fireball Wave: usually happens when Ami/Yumi are on the middle or top level on the left. Harmony will launch a wave of large fireballs in a large arc. Find a gap in between them and wait until it passes.
  • Fireball Lob: usually happens when Ami/Yumi are on the middle or top level. Harmony will lob one fireball in an arc. Depending on where it is going, either jump over it or ignore it.
  • Flame Spire: while she is in the Robot's mouth, she will randomly do this attack. She fires a laser at the ground, and spires of flame spring up from the ground to hit the girls. Their placement is random and they're hard to dodge while on the ground, so try to be on a platform or triple jumping when it happens.

Note: Ami can swing from the Robot's ear, which allows you to collect the Notes that are around that height.
